As a lifestyle blogger sharing my top tips and product picks for living an improved life, I think it’s important to support brands that care about our environment and have ethical practices. Over the past few years, I have seen some very stylish, sustainable and ethical fashion brands emerge. It’s so good to wear slower fashion, and I now think twice about my purchases in an effort to become more and more eco-conscious in all aspects of my life.
Sustainable fashion brands develop and manufacture clothing with respect for the environment. These brands pay workers a fair wage, use organic materials, and produce smaller collections to avoid waste. Below are some favorite sustainable brands that you may not know about and should be on your radar.
Nanoushka | Nanushka is a Budapest-based brand that perfectly combines high fashion and sustainability. With incredible attention to detail and a focus on responsible production, Nanushka consciously creates beautiful pieces, from the coolest oversized blazers to the most gorgeous pants. I just bought this slouchy black bag which comes in so many other colors perfect for spring. I get tons of compliments every time I wear it! BUY THE BRAND
Nanushka | Aloha
Alohas | This Barcelona brand puts sustainable production and responsible shopping at the forefront of the fashion industry. Alohas designs some of the most stylish and comfortable shoes ever! I live in their shoes and own several pairs, from square-toed mules to boots. I also love their fashion pieces and accessories at low prices… I’m obsessed with this brand! BUY THE BRAND
New Nomads is a simple and affordable luxury brand from a clean supply chain. It was developed by two colleagues who worked for a luxury clothing brand based in New York and wanted to make a positive impact. I love that their fabrics are dyed in a completely solar-powered facility. In addition, the pieces are beautiful, chic and luxurious. I have this super flattering olive green blouse from Neu Nomads that fits me perfectly. I also love this versatile shirt dress because it can be worn day or night, depending on the accessories!
Boy Jeans develops and manufactures all of its products with sustainable practices. It typically takes 1,800 gallons of water to make a pair of jeans, but Boyish can produce jeans using just ⅓ of that. I also love that the brand exclusively uses recycled fabrics for everything they make. I own several pairs of the brand and have been living in the darker wash denim lately. BUY THE BRAND
Olivier Logan is another eco-responsible denim brand that I love. They are based in LA and have some of the most comfortable jeans I have ever worn. They prioritize sustainability and ethical practices at every stage of their production, from growing and harvesting organic cotton to sewing the final touches. Plus, their styles are modern and super flattering! BUY THE BRAND
Angela King is a brand of vegan leather handbags with products that “look” like fine leather classics. These stylish bags are certified by PETA and I find myself reaching for the timeless Eloise Satchel again and again. The brand also pays its employees fair wages under safe and comfortable conditions. BUY THE BRAND
katla | Áslaug Magnúsdóttir, founder of Katla, wanted to create an eco-friendly brand that offered comfort and style, and that’s exactly what she did. Katla manufactures the most luxurious tracksuits made from 100% Icelandic eco-friendly fabrics made under zero waste principles. Comfortable products are produced in small batches to avoid wasting resources. They make sweatshirts for women and men – my whole family has the Force set in black. I love that the clothes are made to order in Iceland and shipped a few days later. BUY THE BRAND
Unsubscribed | This brand is a go-to for flowy summer dresses that will last forever. Unsubscribed believes in consciously and slowly creating fashion. One of my favorite bohemian style dresses is made by Unsubscribed. I bought it at their store in East Hampton last summer, and now they are planning to open a store in Malibu, which I am very excited about. BUY THE BRAND
Unsubscribed | St. Roche
St. Roche is a Los Angeles-based, responsibly designed and manufactured trans-seasonal apparel company founded by husband and wife team Sue Stemp and Paud Roche. They choose their manufacturing partners very carefully, working only with small, family-owned or female-run factories that are ethical and compliant. The pieces are very feminine and have beautiful details. BUY THE BRAND
Eve and Max | Founded in 2020, Eve and Max is a new socially responsible luxury fashion brand. Each collection is crafted with timeless basics that are built to last and with the aim of breaking the standard buying cycle. While I try to be better at buying sustainable clothing and accessories, I’m far from perfect. But I believe that every step in the right direction is positive. I love that more eco-friendly brands are popping up, and I can’t wait to keep trying more!
