Geocaching is an outdoor treasure-hunting game in which the participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers (called “geocaches” or “caches”) anywhere in the world. A typical cache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook and “treasure,” usually toys or trinkets of little monetary value. Today, well over 410,000 geocaches are currently placed in 222 countries around the world, which are registered on various websites devoted to the sport.

The last time I went Geocaching was with my father. It was the ‘first taste’ of a really fun activity. Anyway, today we went with our good friend Fred. He’s newly addicted to the sport, and has all the equipment. We had a blast! The thing I love about it is that you end up in places you’d never otherwise visit. Many take you to areas of amazing views or natural beauty. I always find things to photograph! Here are today’s shots of Mission Valley from the hills above:
View 1, View 2, and View 3 (Did you spot Macy’s at Fashion Valley?)
See what I mean? Nice. And we had to work for it. There was some hiking involved, but nothing major. Well there was that hill climb that made Richard grumpy, heh… Fred rewarded us for our hard work (being co-pilots is hard work, yo) with a trip to Chevy’s. Can you say margarita? Hollar!
UPDATE: Added random shots to the gallery.
