Have ya all heard of Meetup.com? I had kinda heard of it, but never took it seriously. But now I have been to my first Meetup, and I have to say it’s awesome. Trust me when I say that there is a Meetup for everything. The one I went to was actually a San Diego Blogger Meetup. I had found it by following some local folks on the Twitter, one of which actually co-hosts the whole thing. I was a bit intimidated at first. I had looked at a lot of the profiles of attendees when I signed up and saw mostly web professionals, real estate, and pro-bloggers. How would I ever fit in? I mean this blog is clearly none of those things..
Well I shouldn’t have worried. Turned out to be a nice cross-section of bloggers that really did vary in experience and subject matter. I had dragged Richard along (kicking and screaming) with me to the nearby Cafe Bassam, and we both ended up talking to quite a few people. I even felt knowledgeable! I am kinda a blogging dinosaur, been around since 2003. It was weird to say that out loud. I also might have unknowingly pimped a friend’s book. Well, I know I did now… but as I mentioned it I didn’t. Heh. But it’s hard to talk about my blogging beginnings with out Julie and Moxie...
Anyway, it was a good time. I wish I could have stayed more than one hour, but my work schedule is brutal this week. Well, today actually. 4:30 in the morning… Ugh. Next time tho…

It was great to meet you at the blogger meetup last night. I’m really glad you made the decision to come out, and I would never want anyone not to come…the last thing I want to do is create meetups that become elitist clicks (that’s so high school). So thanks for coming by, and I hope to see you at the tweetup on June 10th.
