Chocolate Milk Memories
•   remember me   •   viewed 355 times •  10 months, 3 weeks ago

So you know what I miss? Chocolate milk. I used to looove some chocolate milk. We used the Nestle Quick. Remember when you first started to make your own? One spoonful would miss the glass? Then as you got older and “wiser” you added an extra spoonful of the chocolate powder, but then it never dissolved right and was this sweet drink with clumps of that dry powder? My mom would bitch at me when I did that… Sometimes my brother and I would compete and see how much we could dissolve in one glass. I always won. He actually preferred the strawberry flavor for his milk. Sometimes I would actually just put a spoonful linto my mouth and eat it. I was weird, because I did that little spoonful trick as a teenager.

Anyway, so yesterday Richard stumbled upon a container of Quick in the cupboard. He asked when I was ever gonna use it. Tonight seemed like a good time. I made us each a tall glass. I followed the instructions and used 2 tablespoons, but then I smiled to myself and gave each glass an extra spoonful. Heh. For old times sake.

What’s your food memory? Do you have one, or am I weird?

Whenever my mom or dad would make cookies, I’d be right there with them.  My favorite are chocolate chip.  There were two things I’d always do, sneak a taste just after the sugars and butter had been creamed and then again at the end when the chips were added and everything was mixed together.  Until one day I finally realized the danger in eating raw eggs.  To this day, I still sneak those tastes and it always reminds me of my childhood. : )

Hmmm, that is tough.  We were big on Chocolate Milk too, but also Kool-Aid.  I remember growing up there were these microwavable pizzas that they served at the swim/racquet club we went to and we LOVED those damn pizzas - oh man we loved them.  They were so cheap, but so yummy.

My Kaiden is HOOKED on Chocolate Milk - but not regular chocolate milk - it has to be the extra thick stuff from the dairy.  Every Saturday after dance class, we stop at Yoder Dairies and get a jug as a treat for her.  She loves it.

Sweet tarts.  I had a thing for sweet tarts.  Thankfully, I grew out of any fondness for sweet things that I may have had.
