It’s a San Diego online event! Well, an event I am trying to create. You see, there are some San Diego online personalities that I want to meet, and others I want to hang out with again. So I decided to Twitter about it on Monday night. It seemed my little local posse was up for meeting! So here’s the deal:
Daniel (danielphillip.com) and Richard (richardallen.vox.com) will be @ Urban Mo’s around 9ish. Joining us so far is Joelle (tenth-muse.com), Wes Stone (liveitupthepodcast.com), and Gooster (goostersd.blogspot.com) as well as a few more that haven’t super-confirmed (Jenn of jennifervangrove.com, Fred of jeffred.vox.com). I think the internet might explode. Kidding! But it does look to be a good time. There is no agenda, no set length of time that we’ll all be there (at least 2 hours for Richard and I), but do stop in and say hello if you are inclined…
So tonight I met the famous internet sensation Joelle of Tenth Muse and Moxie Design Studios. Can I just tell you how awesome she is? Like, when you read the blog and think “oh, she seems really cool” like you need to multiply that by at least ten to get the accurate cool ratio going on. Srsly. We gabbed a lot about our mutual love, the internets. We drank fancy beverages like wine, or a mandarin squish. She sang. (We were at karaoke at The Lamplighter, so that was like normal..) Anyhoo, long story, lots happened. Creepy Turkish Stalker Guy, etc. Details to follow, I am sure. I just wanted to get the recording online. Yes, I recorded.
Here’s the thing about that… Listeners to the dp.com podcast thing know that I cannot use the new iPod to record in the car. Weird. I also cannot use it to record in the chair in the bedroom. Tonight I found that I really cannot record inside of The Lamplighter either. What do all of these areas have in common? Speakers. So I have a recording of Joelle singing an amazing song, sounding perfect. The recording however, sucks. I have decided that speakers are bad with my recoding set up. Duh, right? But if you can get past the noise of it you can hear Joelle pretty well… The crowd really did go wild!
There were other great singers there too, including our own Amy. Then there were the ones with a lot of ‘personality’ and ‘presentation’ like the guy with the feather boa. I think I might become a karaoke groupie!
