Apparently a local religious group is up in arms over the new (old) Startbucks logo. Sheesh.
(San Diego, CA) Starbucks has recently introduced a new version of their logo which features a topless mermaid with her legs spread, which has caused outrage from a nation wide Christian media watchdog organization. The Resistance, with has over 3000 members nationwide, is boycotting Starbucks across the country saying their new logo is inappropriate.
“The Starbucks logo has a naked woman on it with her legs spread like a prostitute,” explains Mark Dice, founder of the group. “Need I say more? It’s extremely poor taste, and the company might as well call themselves, Slutbucks.”

Okay. Really. It’s a FISH WOMAN and those are not legs.. They’ve used the “Siren” logo before… But aside from that, come on! (The new cup below the jump, in case you’ve missed it.)
But I agree with Richard, I kinda like Slutbucks… “I am a bit of a coffee whore.”
Earlier today someone wished me a ‘hateful day’. I don’t want to name names *cough*Richard*cough*, they know who they are. Well, my day was just fine. Up until the end actually. Ya finally got your wish you dirty whore! Heh! On my drive back to the valley I was victim of every near miss accident possible. I was cut off, other cars entered my lane, all that crazy annoying shit. But I was determined to have a good night. Even though I am on my own. There were plans, you see. We were invited, but the way it was mentioned to me… or I ought to say, the way I interpreted it was that Richard thought I wouldn’t want to go so he had said we probably wouldn’t go. It didn’t even seem like a question. When I talked to him this afternoon it was more like he thought I wasn’t too keen on it, but he planned to go anyway. So I figured I would just go along with that. By that time I was still at work, and his ride was already on the way, and things were in motion based on next to no discussion. I was kinda annoyed. Had I known he really wanted to go last night when he mentioned it, I would have. Whatever. I am tired and in no real mood to be social now.
Oh, so I was saying, being that I was on my own I needed a plan for dinner. After much distracted thought on my drive towards home (people kept cutting me off) I decided on Quizno’s. While I was in the area I thought I’d get a coffee at the Starbucks next door. After all, I was determined to have a good night! So I got in line. There was a man in a wheelchair ahead of me. I tried to be courteous and give him room to turn around and such, as one does. He ordered and then drove over to wait for his drink. It wasn’t till after I placed my order that I noticed he had parked himself directly under the pick-up counter. Okay. But it was clearly training night. The drinks were really backed up. So I watched as 5 people had to maneuver around and reach over this guy parked right in the way.
Finally when his drink was done (and this is the screwed up part) the really slow trainee barista takes the drink all the way out and around the counter, walks it over to the guy and hands it to him. Now I am sure it is a policy or something to help the disabled. Nice in theory. But the man was right in front of the pick-up counter. Totally within reach! WTH? So while he’s doing the chair service, the other gal had hopped over from the register and knocked out my drink in 2.5 seconds. I walked over to get it. As I turned to leave the man in the chair wheeled in front of me to the door and stopped. I waited. I was always taught not to assume one needs help. He may very well have been able to open the door, it’s not for me to assume he cannot because he is in a chair. It was a nice small electric job too… After a suitable yet small pause I walked around him (he was right in the way again) and opened the door with a smile. He didn’t even turn towards me, let alone a thanks or fuck you, and zipped out. So I am confused. I went home and tried to look up the etiquette of the situation. There are even training videos for sale! From what I read for free I was mostly correct. Don’t assume is right, but apparently I should have asked. Okay, my bad. Lesson learned. But in the mean time shouldn’t he have acknowledged me? The whole time he seemed kinda like an a-hole. He had to know he parked exactly in the way each time he did so. It’s Starbucks. Space is limited, but well thought out. And I may not have been behind him at the exit. What if I had turned to grab a straw? Would he have acted the same? Just waiting there staring ahead till someone else was leaving?
On the way home I was cut off again as some jack-hole turned into MY left hand turn lane when the light turned green. Gah!
I think I am just gonna chalk it all up to more ‘hateful day’.
Daniel takes you along for a ride while he checks the mail, goes to Starbucks where one old hag was pissy, grocery shops, then drives back home. It’s a fun filled romp if you like that sort of thing!
This little ditty via J.Go was so, well… you’ll see. I just had to share. I do think I know why Richard insists we always go to the same Starbucks now… Heh.
I survived the first half of the day. Whew! It turns out that Starbucks can make me pretty happy too!
Then to come home to an exciting marriage offer! (Was it an offer, or announcment, or..?) Wow! I thought he was already engaged though!
Anyway, Some fun linkage: There’s this movie alphabet game that was to great not to link from Electric Bugaloo. Can’t wait to try that later! Unrelated, but also fun (via Towler Road) there’s SoundCover, for when you take a call from where you shouldn’t be… this’ll give more appropriate backround noise.
