Twitterers, Bloggers, And Podcasters, Oh My!
what's up?

Urban Mo’s was a blast last night. This photo was one of only three that I took, but it has Trixie and I love her. I always end up wishing I brought the actual camera! But then who wants to be that guy chasing people with a camera all night when you’ve only just met? Right? So a few iPhone photos are all I got.

So anyhoo, @gooster, @wesstone, @slickdome, @richardallen, @jeffred, @tenthmuse, @mikeynerd, and me @danielphillip were in attendance. And Mo’s was packed. Packed, I tell you! I was poked, prodded, and groped in places not normally groped.. Hellooo! The heat was pretty intense too. All that aside I think a crowd is a good venue to meet new people tho, in case you don’t hit it off and you want to slip away… It could happen! What a great time tho! We all seemed to play nicely together, although it did get a bit wild towards the end. I danced I twirled and posed like a freak to Miley IN PUBLIC! OMG. LOL. And one of my “Apple martinis” was basically a glass of vodka. Cuh-ra-zy! Nothing like booze to make meeting new people less stressful… Kidding! Kinda.

Most importantly I think we made a few new friends, and that was the whole point, right?

Urban Twitter Mo’s!
what's up?

Okay, so just in from the big night out at Mo’s. Totally a blast. My Twitter peeps rock!

I can safely say this because I have met 1/16th of them in person. Okay, maybe not that many… But still, between tonight and the #sdtweetups I have been to I can say that Twitter is my friend yo. More, plus a photo or two tomorrow. Must sleep now.

As a wise woman once said, “Tweet me, twitter me, add me, friend me, follow me, stalk me, love me! Twitter!!”

Come One, Come All
what's up?

It’s a San Diego online event! Well, an event I am trying to create. You see, there are some San Diego online personalities that I want to meet, and others I want to hang out with again. So I decided to Twitter about it on Monday night. It seemed my little local posse was up for meeting! So here’s the deal:

Daniel (danielphillip.com) and Richard (richardallen.vox.com) will be @ Urban Mo’s around 9ish. Joining us so far is Joelle (tenth-muse.com), Wes Stone (liveitupthepodcast.com), and Gooster (goostersd.blogspot.com) as well as a few more that haven’t super-confirmed (Jenn of jennifervangrove.com, Fred of jeffred.vox.com). I think the internet might explode. Kidding! But it does look to be a good time. There is no agenda, no set length of time that we’ll all be there (at least 2 hours for Richard and I), but do stop in and say hello if you are inclined…

I Suck. Podcast # 52
it's a podcast!

Okay wow. I need to make an effort to never record after a early work weekend ever again. Whatever. A sleep deprived me has a cocktail and tries to speak intelligently. The rest is just what you’d expect. So I added a hawt song at the end. As a reward yo… You deserve it if you get there.

San Diego Bloggers!
blogging

imageHave ya all heard of Meetup.com? I had kinda heard of it, but never took it seriously. But now I have been to my first Meetup, and I have to say it’s awesome. Trust me when I say that there is a Meetup for everything. The one I went to was actually a San Diego Blogger Meetup. I had found it by following some local folks on the Twitter, one of which actually co-hosts the whole thing. I was a bit intimidated at first. I had looked at a lot of the profiles of attendees when I signed up and saw mostly web professionals, real estate, and pro-bloggers. How would I ever fit in? I mean this blog is clearly none of those things..

Well I shouldn’t have worried. Turned out to be a nice cross-section of bloggers that really did vary in experience and subject matter. I had dragged Richard along (kicking and screaming) with me to the nearby Cafe Bassam, and we both ended up talking to quite a few people. I even felt knowledgeable! I am kinda a blogging dinosaur, been around since 2003. It was weird to say that out loud. I also might have unknowingly pimped a friend’s book. Well, I know I did now… but as I mentioned it I didn’t. Heh. But it’s hard to talk about my blogging beginnings with out Julie and Moxie

Anyway, it was a good time. I wish I could have stayed more than one hour, but my work schedule is brutal this week. Well, today actually. 4:30 in the morning… Ugh. Next time tho…

How Long? Podcast # 51
it's a podcast!

I think I was pressured into this one… First, I felt possessive. Second, I need to make sure iTunes still loves me. And 3rd… well, more internet whoring. Heh. Why not? Also, find out why I feel like I stole Christmas....

Slutbucks
news

Apparently a local religious group is up in arms over the new (old) Startbucks logo. Sheesh.

(San Diego, CA) Starbucks has recently introduced a new version of their logo which features a topless mermaid with her legs spread, which has caused outrage from a nation wide Christian media watchdog organization. The Resistance, with has over 3000 members nationwide, is boycotting Starbucks across the country saying their new logo is inappropriate.

“The Starbucks logo has a naked woman on it with her legs spread like a prostitute,” explains Mark Dice, founder of the group. “Need I say more? It’s extremely poor taste, and the company might as well call themselves, Slutbucks.”

via Richard (he didn’t list a source for the story)

Okay. Really. It’s a FISH WOMAN and those are not legs.. They’ve used the “Siren” logo before… But aside from that, come on! (The new cup below the jump, in case you’ve missed it.)

But I agree with Richard, I kinda like Slutbucks… “I am a bit of a coffee whore.”

So I Was Chatting With Cheapblueguitar
bloggingwhat's up?

I mentioned the possibility of my attending a sort of blogger meet-up. Well, not sort of.. An actual blogger meet-up. I know, I know. More with blogging about blogging. I just think I should know bloggers in real life. I feel like such a novelty act around a lot of my friends… Anyways. I clicked around over at the MeetUp site, like snooping… No one seemed gay. Not that I am looking to hook up (hello, totally like married), but it’d be nice to meet some more gay folk…

A Night Out.
photo albumwhat's up?

Okay, so where to begin? I went to see Leslie Hall! Soo exciting.. I totally missed her the last time she was in San Diego. I wish I had stuck around to see if I could meet her after the show. I almost did, but seriously… The public? I hate them. At least the portion of them that were next to me during Leslie’s performance. I was pushed, shoved, stomped on, had beer slung at me, smacked in the head… I could go on, but it just feels like bitching. I really did have an awesome time. I think it’s just how people get at a show, all self centered… I may just be to old for that type of thing anymore. I don’t ‘get it’ with all the selfish abandon so I just get really pissed. So we ducked out as soon as she left the stage for real. I think Richard and I were both done.

Anyway, back to the beginning. The night started out pretty good. We were, as usual when we go to the Casbah, tragically early. Some other folk were pretty early too, so we got to chatting and actually hung out with them during the opening acts. Then I thought I saw a local blogger. In fact as time passed I was positive. I totally almost said hi or something, but I didn’t. I mean, it’s not someone I *know* online so I figured it would be creepy of me. Plus I think he was on a date. Awww… Anyhoo, so yeah. Microphone Mike was first. They (he?) rocked. I loved the crazy retro thing they had going. Could have heard more from them. Next was Bunky. I wanted to like them. I did. I like them from what I listened to on MySpace. But dood. They were so loud. Then really quiet, then super really loud. I thought the glass on my iPhone was gonna shatter. My hair vibrated at one point. It was just loud.

Then Leslie and the Lys came on and it was pure genius. Seeing her live is just… wow. Richard took a ton of pictures. He’s crazy like that. Crazy for me! LOL. Okay I am gettin’ punchy. Time for bed. Here’s my 2 favorite shots of the evening… I’ll get the rest on Flickr tomorrow sometime.
