My opinions matter!

I have been invited to join an exclusive research panel. All I have to do is shop as usual, scan all my purchases with my easy to use ScanKey, and transmit my data once a week. In return I get debit cards to use at my favorite restaurants, retailers and more! Not to mention I will be influencing the kinds of products that companies will develop in the future. Plus, I get a newsletter!!! It will have exciting articles and recipes!

So what do you think? Should I join? Is this some kind of gimmick?

Today is the day that the desperate come shopping. They try to take on a task that really should have at least been started weeks ago. They will be frustrated, rude, loud, and messy. They will have little to choose from too. They will outright refuse to leave at closing. Heh. Nine more hours and I am done with my pre-holiday madness. I will be counting the seconds.

Happy Halloween!

Today is a good day, yeah? I find myself on a day off. I seem to be feeling a bit better. I didn’t sleep all day. I really thought I might though. Last night I didn’t make it much past ten before I made my way up to bed. I really thought I’d sleep my whole morning away, but I was up at 9. Earlier than usual! I feel more like me. This is a good thing, since I think Richard wants to do something after work. He is all dressed up as King Louis XVI. One of his co-workers is Marie Antoinette. Heheheh. I bet they are having a great time!

So anyhoo. I am trying to get all my chores out of the way just in case. I have some light shopping to do later and I also want to go see all the costumes no one bought or rented. Heh. I think that would be funny for a podcast. We’ll see. I also have to muster up the courage to call the District Attorney’s office regarding my subpoena. There is another trial next week and apparently I never responded to the subpoena. Oops. I wonder why… Could it be that I don’t want to fucking go?!?!? All of this still happening a year later really makes me question whether or not I’d call the police if something else ever happened to me. I mean if it’s over and you survive what’s the point? At least it’s over and you aren’t forced to relive it in a courtroom every 4 months with no end in sight…. Right. Well. This post lost its fun!

At any rate. Halloween is my least favorite holiday, ever since that year we were fed Beanie-Weinie for dinner before trick-or-treating and I threw up. It also marks the start of the holiday season retail roller-coaster ride. Up until this point we were being pulled to the top of the tracks. This weekend we go down that first hill. *shudder*

• thoughts i had I have been slowly trying to change, or evolve my personal style. We're not talking a major over haul like when I started with my current company (from suits and ties to jeans). I have been trying for a more sophisticated casual look. I have been in graphic tees and jeans for a long time. I needed a change. I have been experimenting with polos, wovens, and layers. It has really made getting myself dressed a bit of a challenge. Today I have on a short sleeved red, brown, and blue woven over a long sleeved blue cotton tee with some faded jeans. I feel like a lost lumberjack. Should I add the puka shell necklace? Sneakers? It shouldn't be this hard. I work in retail. But I have to say that what works on a mannequin doesn't always work on a person....

• making a living

The visit was an absolute whirlwind. My regional manager wanted to know specifics of how upper management (namely, my DM) was doing their job. I didn’t even think that I’d get to talk to her but she kinda cornered me. So of course I was sweaty, and probably a little figity. To be honest the woman scares me a little. I find her more than intimidating. In fact I have only found someone that scary one other time in my whole career. But I was professional, and upfront about our store’s opportunities and all that good stuff.

Now I am home and trying to unwind.
