A New Year
mmm, alchohol...thoughts i hadwhat's up?

New Year’s Eve was pretty low key for us. I was still pretty out of it with this cold/flu thing I got going on, but better. So we planned on the usual festivities. Chinese food and champagne. While Richard was out getting the food (It turned out to be soooo good! China Max!) I called my mom. Somehow it helps to talk to mom if I am not feeling well. I know, I am a baby when I am sick. But I have been housebound for like 3 days with this! Anyhoo, Richard finally got back and I was starving! Finally ready for some solid food! So we pigged out and watched movies. I had rented (do you call it renting when you don’t leave the house?) 1408 and Transformers. I enjoyed both, but I have to admit Transformers was mostly cool for the effects. Then it was time for the Ryan and Dick ball dropping. As soon as 2008 rolled in my bubbly and cold meds combo had put me to bed. Fancy night, eh? But it was cool to wake up to 2 New Years greetings from Canada in my voicemail. I love that my social circle is on an international level. wink

So I really wanted to write one of those deep, joy and pain New Year posts. But I can’t. 2007 has just been pretty solid. I have maintained my relationship with my amazing man. We still live in the same place, that we love. We have the same jobs. We have some terrific friends that have become like family, and gained some new friends along the way. All in all it has been a great year. I head into 2008 feeling very hopeful and happy. Happy New Year, and may 2008 bring you something great!

I Even Know Lines
lunchtime poll

I think… no, I am positive… that you are the most unattractive man I have ever met in my entire life. You know, in the short time we’ve been together, you have demonstrated EVERY loathsome characteristic of the male personality and even discovered a few new ones. You are physically repulsive, intellectually retarded, you’re morally reprehensible, vulgar, insensitive, selfish, stupid, you have no taste, a lousy sense of humor and you smell. You’re not even interesting enough to make me sick.

A memorable line, you know who said it….

Sometimes watching an old movie is just so great. The nostalgia… The way it seems to take you back along with it, to the first time you saw it. There are movies in my collection I could watch over and over and over. I know this because it’s what I do. I buy the movies, but not just to collect, to watch. Repeatedly. I even know lines. Lines people! Am I nuts? What about you? Are there movies you can watch over and over?

Cutest Movie
pop culture

Little Miss Sunshine. I loved it. We watched it last night since it looked like everything was a rerun. Could that little girl be cuter??

We also saw Eragon, Borat, and Richard got Infamous (I only watched the end of that one). All were good, but that Little Miss Sunshine… cute!

Twist Of Fate
remember me

So I was over at Doublecool.com where Todd had posted an old Juice Newton number from the YouTube. This of course led to an hour of YouTube surfing. That always happens to me. One click, and I am stuck. Anyway, I eventually made it to some Olivia Newton-John. Namely, the theme song/video from Twist of Fate. I remember going to see this movie the weekend it opened. My brother and I (and possibly a neighbor kid) had to drive over to the next town to the biggest movie theater around. Oddly, it had a dirt parking lot. I don’t remember the plot much. I’ll have to rent it again to have that come flooding back. I do remember we had candy and popcorn. I remember having a lot of fun hanging out with mom. I also remember thinking the movie was amazing. I remember thinking John Travolta was beautiful.

I soon had the soundtrack in my walkman and listed to the song Twist of Fate over and over and over. Cause that’s what I did when I liked a song back then. Heh. I still do that now. Repeat is my favorite button on my CD player…

Anyhoo, this brought back memories, so I thought I’d share it.

It’s My Last Day Off!
what's up?

No more Martha Stewart style posts either… I won’t have the time! Heh! But it has been a good few days off. Not only did I sit around the house blogging (I was home alone for most of the time). I did a lot of chores around the house, removed Christmas, and managed to ring in the New Year without too much fuss.I saw a couple good movies too! Superman Returns, The DaVinci Code, Friends With Money, and An American Haunting. They were all pretty good. I loved The DA Vinci Code. Superman was nice to look at. Oh and I finally saw the new Pirates movie! Johnny Depp… Mmmm.

So today is the last day in my FIVE days off. Sigh. Richard is home today too! He’s already listing all kinds of chores. Ugh.

Here’s The Thing…
what's up?

Laura rocks. Thanks doll face! (She knows why…)

What else. Yeah. Vacation is over. work tomorrow. I am on the 9 to 6. Wish me luck people. I need it. Really.

Saw two more movies tonight. The Exorcism of Emily Rose and the latest Harry Potter. Harry Potter was as good as I thought it’d be. I mean, I never read the books, and I find the movies to be a lot of fun. Emily Rose was amazing. I loved it. I used to read everything occult I could as a child, and I found the entire thing fascinating. Richard thought it was creepy, but enjoyed the courtroom drama. I’d say the Blockbuster">Blockbuster was quite good to us tonight.

Did I mention that I finished my book this week too? I was reading the entire Chronicles of Narnia, for once getting caught up before the movie. That was a lot of fun. I had remembered reading them, but nothing about them. It’s really a good story if you like that kind of thing.

Whew! I guess I’m letting my inner nerd out tonight. Sorry ‘bout that!

A Friday Night
link-tastic!pop culture

MexicanI finally saw “The Mexican”. Very nice. And it had the added bonus of surround sound to block out the kiddie party. That madness lasted till just past sundown. (Good thing there was wine!)

So anyway, yeah. It was a great movie.

Saw this game over at Dramaqueen. It is very, very disgusting. The sound effects, I think, are what take it over the top. But geeze! It’s a little addicting. I’ve played five or six times, and cannot come close to her score of 18 left! She is clearly the champ.

In other news, my day to day non-webpage type email address has recieved nearly 100 150 spam messages. I have only ever averaged 10 to 15 a day from all three of my addresses. Kinda scary.

TV Disappointment
pop culture

I was so excited to watch this movie on TV tonight. The Haunting, with Catherine Zeta-Jones, Owen Wilson... It looked so good! After about fifteen minutes I remembered that I had seen it. I hate when that happens!

After about thirty minutes I realized why I had forgotten. It’s just that kind of movie.
