Earlier today I was bitching on Twitter about how many versions of Santa Baby there are. It is on the soundtrack at work like 78 times. It (along with many other traditional holiday tunes) are making me go insane! *stabs ears*
Anyhoo, a bit later my good friend Fred reminded me of one version that I do enjoy… I posted this last year, remember?
It’s Santa’s baby. Do you love it? And then there’s this gem. I think it should totally be a traditional song… LOL
I don’t get chips very often. Not potato anyway. The whole healthy eating thing and all.. However on occasion I do reward myself with a bag of fancy potato chips of some kind. I just love the salty-crunchy stuff! Recently I tried something new… I have to share!
The best chips ever. Srsly. I love these chips soooo much.
I usually don’t like the flavored chip. It can be to strong of a taste. These are perfect. The onion is so light and yummy. Mmmmm! Try them!
How are you toots? I am okay . A bit crazy after my six days of work this week, but what can you do? So here I am in mai cozy bed posting from my phone. It still seems crazy. Blogging from my phone. In bed. I love Apple
So anyhoo, today was fine. It was a normal workday again. Finally. Inventory is OVAH. Thanks ye gawds. Now we can move on to our next major challenge. Srsly. Major challenge. I am tired just thinking about it.
Those of you that have been with me a while know that Richard and I have this rule. No gifts. Not on Christmas, birthdays, or any other gift giving holiday. It has worked for us. Instead of sweaters and cologne and junk throughout the year, we do meaningful purchases. Like our bedroom set this year. That was Christmas, and then some. Over the years we have been able to get things we may not have otherwise. So it’s good. ‘No gifts’ works. Oddly though, the rule has exceptions. I guess most rules do. Heh. So Valentine’s has been one constant exception. No matter how much we discuss the ‘no gift’ rule, no matter how often he refuses any exceptions I want to make, Richard has always sent me flowers on Valentine’s. Well, until last year. That was when he hid an iPod Shuffle in the mail box. That was classic! Naughty, but classic. I think he subconsciously is compelled on VD. Scott said it well with his Valentine post:
If you are hooked-up, partnered, or married, the situation isn’t much better. Ads on television and the radio remind your special someone that if you don’t buy them at least the Hope Diamond for VD, then you must despise them and you are little more than cow manure in human form. Don’t think that you can get away with just one VD gift or card either. According to a recent television ad I saw from a card company, you must find a humorous card that smartly sums up your love for this person in a funny way, a “I can’t bear to be without you” card that you slip into the person’s briefcase or tote bag, and then finally the “You are so completely perfect in every way that I need you more than oxygen itself” card.
LOL. I hope that isn’t why he does it. I am delighted every year to be surprised. This year was a total surprise! He has been so against my getting an iPhone that it has been a bit scary. We have even argued about it (I was going to get it last week as I had saved enough actual cash while still taking care of my bills). So imagine my surprise when I opened the card he had stashed in my lunch I took to work yesterday and found an enormous Apple gift card! Not an iPhone, but a nice chunk to put towards an iPhone! I am sooo excited! An still a bit shocked. I am so spoiled by that man! I love him! Heh.
I just wish I knew ahead of time so I could know how much we were spending. I figured from recent happenings (car accident) that this was to be a no gift year for reals. Now I feel cheap. I am going to take him to dinner this weekend, or lunch. He loves a good lunch out. In the meantime, I do think I did well with the card I selected for him .
Okay kids, here’s the deal. It’s that magic time of year once again. Not Christmas… that shit is so last year. No. I mean something bigger. That’s right. It’s time for the 2008 Weblog Awards! Exciting! The Bloggies!
I want one. Well at least a nomination that makes it to the voting part… I am totally whoring here. Nominate me! Pleeeeaaaase! *makes cute yet seductive face* There’s only one week left!
Well, I have to say. I think the post-holiday Holiday Party was a success. At one point we had 14 people. Fourteen. In my house. I have never had that many people over in all my life. But what a way to close out the season and ring in the New Year! All of our new friends, some we’ve had for a while, and some that have become like family gathered together like that. It was a blast. Thank you to all that attended. It meant a lot to us. And I love that I can say that there were guys making out on the stairs at my party! Makes it sound really wild, eh? Heh, it just sounds that way. It was a very classy event! I just wish I had taken pictures. There are tons that our friend Sheila took. As soon as I get copies I’ll put them on the Flickr.
Today we have been removing the holiday trim and tree. That is a big ass job! There were a lot of balls on that thing, let me tell you! Of course there is glitter everywhere. I have swept, washed, vacuumed, and wiped. I can still see red sparkles out of the corner of my eye… But the war on glitter will have to wait. My body has finally given in to this cold. I thought I was coming out of it, but today is another story. I am so glad I didn’t get drunk last night or I swear I’d be dead right now. A hang over with this sinus mess? No thanks…
Christmas time is almost done. I am soooo excited. Do I even have to tell you? Heh. So excited.
I actually had a nice holiday. Christmas eve we had nibbley things and hung out at the house. We toasted the end of the holiday shopping season with champagne! We watched A Christmas Story. I love that stupid movie! Then the next day we slept in, as I mentioned. I baked up some naughty treats for breakfast. Did a few chores. Oh, come on! I know chores on Christmas kinda sucks… But we had been working the past 7 days!! So anyhoo, after that business was done we got all pretty to meet the girls for Christmas Lunch. (It’s not just lunch that day, it’s got to be Christmas Lunch.) Good thing we dressed up too. You should see how gorgeous the gals looked… In fact you can, on my Flickr! So it was me and my Richard, Sheila, and her two lovely daughters having a holiday meal outside at the waterfront Marriott on Coronado Island. On Christmas. With a view of downtown. Can you even? I love living in San Diego.
Today was a harsh shove back into reality as I once again returned to work. But really it was fine. Still, I cannot wait till my long weekend.
*Edited for effect. There was a disclaimer. Something about love and warm feelings for blogging daily.
BTW, I don’t normally post an email without warning the person. This was totally an exception due to the subject matter. NaPoBloHomo or something. I don’t even know what that means.
