Lamplighter Monday
mmm, alchohol...what's up?

So I was on Twitter last night. Unusual, I know. Heh. Anyway Joelle tweeted about going to Lamplighter. I called down to Richard asking if he wanted to go. (I had earlier made a stink about wanting to skip going out to dinner, so I am sure he thought I was nuts) The next thing I knew we were changing and out the door! We hadn’t seen Joelle in a while, so of course we weren’t going to miss it. Plus, girl can sing so it’s fun to watch her in a karaoke bar. Actually, it’s fun to watch others watch her in a karaoke bar. Heh. Anyway, she sung, we gabbed, we laughed… a lot. The cocktails were as strong as ever. We all looked amazing. wink It was a great time!

Maybe one of these days I’ll be brave enough to get up and sing.

Conversation With Myself
thoughts i had

Oh hai! What a surprise seeing you here! I was just thinking to myself that I hadn’t seen you in ages!

So I need your opinion, and since we go way back, I figured I could trust you. You see, recently I went to this karaoke event. It was great fun! I found myself wanting to play along too! I mean, I can sing.. right? Well in the car at least. I actually remembered this one song that I was always told I could sing pretty well. I think I mentioned it to you. Didn’t I? I know it’s been a while since we spoke. It’s a Depeche Mode song. I know he has a deep voice. I know. But really, I used to be good at singing along with that one. I did sound okay, unless my BFF Laura lied. Which could explain our not speaking since 1997.. That’s totally not the point. I want to do this karaoke thing. It looks fun, and if I can sit in front of my computer for 30 minutes recording myself talking I figured I could do this. It’s 4 minutes. Oh come on! I have even done videos of the talking thing! I think I can handle being in front of a group. If not there’s always tequila.

Shut up. You are a bitch! I don’t even know if they have the song anyways. Sheesh. Whatever. I am still going to practice it, just in case. It’s fun, and eases my commute. So there. Skeevy hoor. wink

She’s Got Mad Skillz Yo…
what's up?

So tonight I met the famous internet sensation Joelle of Tenth Muse and Moxie Design Studios. Can I just tell you how awesome she is? Like, when you read the blog and think “oh, she seems really cool” like you need to multiply that by at least ten to get the accurate cool ratio going on. Srsly. We gabbed a lot about our mutual love, the internets. We drank fancy beverages like wine, or a mandarin squish. She sang. (We were at karaoke at The Lamplighter, so that was like normal..) Anyhoo, long story, lots happened. Creepy Turkish Stalker Guy, etc. Details to follow, I am sure. I just wanted to get the recording online. Yes, I recorded.

Here’s the thing about that… Listeners to the dp.com podcast thing know that I cannot use the new iPod to record in the car. Weird. I also cannot use it to record in the chair in the bedroom. Tonight I found that I really cannot record inside of The Lamplighter either. What do all of these areas have in common? Speakers. So I have a recording of Joelle singing an amazing song, sounding perfect. The recording however, sucks. I have decided that speakers are bad with my recoding set up. Duh, right? But if you can get past the noise of it you can hear Joelle pretty well… The crowd really did go wild!

There were other great singers there too, including our own Amy. Then there were the ones with a lot of ‘personality’ and ‘presentation’ like the guy with the feather boa. I think I might become a karaoke groupie! wink
