Apparently I wasn’t the only one cursed by the DVR… LOL!
As you all know, today was the American Idol Finale. *sigh* I am gonna miss Idol! Anyhoo. It was the night we had reserved, as we had decided last year that we like to host the finale. Of course last year was more of a party (since everyone was speaking to everyone) and Richard and I kinda went all out with CD’s of the final 2 as party favors, too much food, and we wore matching custom tees…
This year we had a much more intimate gathering. It was a casual affair with a few nibbles and drinks. Richard and I were decked out in the basic American Idol logo tees from the AI site. Hawt! And this year there were bloopers. Well, I guess that might not be the right word, but we have the DVR and typically we record the Idol so as to chit chat with the guests as the ‘buffer’ builds. You know, so that then you can FF the commercials. Well. I was a bit busy at the computer (I got an email that iTunes no longer likes my podcast feed and blocked me) so I put Richard in charge of the record setup. Later on, 15 minutes into the program one of our friends asks if we were watching HD cable. Erm… For what we pay we had better be! I tried to adjust the picture to no avail. Turns out that Richard had set the DVR to record a non HD channel. OMG, right? Blooper #1. I was mortified! We all laughed about it and continued watching. Did George Michael look awful or what? So we get close to the end and I remember that AI runs over a lot. Our DVR stops recording regardless. Damn Time Warner! We were very close to the end of the recording and the judges were still bloviating about being special or whatever. Gotta love Paula… I was panicking. The dude with the envelope came out. Blah, blah, blah… Finally Ryan opens it. I thought we were going to make it. He said something like “the winner of American Idol is David” and cut. The end. That’s all we got. Srsly. That would be the second blooper.
I had to take out my iPhone and GOOGLE the winner. David Cook! I wish I had been recording us. What a moment!
We suck. At least no one will forget the Idol party this year!
This has to be the strangest Idol season ever. I just have no sense of who’s leaving and who’s staying. Well, I didn’t before today. I was checking out Vote For The Worst again this morning. Turns out they are voting for Brooke White now. And they are celebrating the loss of Carly Smithson. Weird. But the last time I looked at the site they were voting for Kristy Lee Cook. She hung on for ever didn’t she? Do you think VFTW is strong enough to swing the results that much?
Anyway, here’s the latest from EW.com:
Simon Cowell may have loved Carly Smithson (this week), but American Idol voters didn’t. Despite rare praise from the hard-to-please judge Tuesday night after her roaring performance of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘’Superstar,’’ the former recording artist-turned-bartender-turned top 6 Idol finalist couldn’t rustle up enough support from the public to avoid getting cut on Wednesday’s results show. Joining her in the bottom two was her Idol roommate, Syesha Mercado, who now returns to compete next week, when Neil Diamond will be the mentor. True to form, front-runners David Cook and David Archuleta were announced as safe early in the show; more surprising, the judges’ harsh assessments of Jason Castro and Brooke White this week clearly didn’t hurt enough with voters to leave either at risk of elimination.
FULL STORY
Ugh. What will happen now?
Did you see it? Can you see it? LOL

from the iPhone
Ugh. Good riddance.Country crooner Kristy Lee Cook, a frequent visitor to the American Idol bottom three, finally lost the numbers game in the voting announced on this week’s results show. Syesha Mercado and Brooke White had the next two lowest vote totals, but will return to the competition next week, when the mentor will be Phantom of the Opera composer Andrew Lloyd Webber.
After her elimination, Kristy Lee playfully planted herself on the judges’ table right in front of frequent nemesis Simon Cowell, serenading him with her farewell performance of Mariah Carey’s ‘’Forever.’’
And what the hell with Ryan taunting us with the safe or not bit? Where were the stools? The couches? Bitch.
Okay kids. Here it is. We are down our favorite guy. (Bye, hot Aussie man!) I am bound to loose just a bit of interest. But I am trying. I am trying dammit!
First up was David Archuleta. He was great, as usual. The judges loved him tonight. Carly sang one of my favorite songs. That always makes it hard for me to hear the singing. Anyway, I liked it. The judges were kinda ‘meh’. Sayesha I thought did well but it was hard to tell about the judges. Simon was weird with her being ‘technically very good’. Brooke was okay. The judges compared her to a burger missing something and argued what that was. Okay… Kristy Lee Cook was awful. I really hate her at this point. Why must everything she does have that twangy music? I should have gone on a bathroom break. Now David Cook was phenomenal. OMG. The judges loved it too. Jason is hokey. Paula, Randy, and Simon seem to have embraced that. Ugh.
Okay, off to watch Hell’s Kitchen
What can I say about this? American Idol is trying to kill me. “Goodbye, hot Aussie man.”
*mourns*
I haven’t blogged yet today. And. And, I never really did an Idol post. What? Am I feeling well? Actually I am. I am just a little unmotivated this week. I attribute it to working the weekend. That is mentally exhausting as well as physically.
You believe that, right? That excuse flies? No? Aw, hell. So what if I have been lazy! Sheesh…
Anyhoo. Idol was grand last night. It was a bit on the Jesus-y side again tho. The theme was songs that ‘inspire you’. David Cook sucked, while Kristy Lee Cook was.. not horrible. I still hate her though. Michael Johns looked and sounded amazing. Our hosts this week (we were off the hook last night) did a great job. I gotta say tho, watch out for the blueberry martini. It’ll get ya if your not careful!
That brings us to tonight. American Idol Gives Back. I loved this one last year. I know, it’s a lot of fluf, and a bit corny. I can’t help it. I insisted on watching it this year. We had Fred over for dinner and then we watched the entire program. It was just what I wanted! I laughed, I teared up, and I think I fell in love with Miley Cyrus. Even though she doesn’t watch Idol… Srsly tho. For 15 years old, this girl has got it going on. I was a bit shocked when she crawled on the floor. Her dad must be so proud. I love her! Other highlights included Jimmy Kimmel’s intro for Simon, Fergie, Heart, OMG FERGIE AND HEART!!! The Idol’s group performances were really good too. I loved the opener with my dancers from So You Think You Can Dance… Actually the SYTYCD kids were all over the whole show! Very nice.
It was great. But I really am tired, so good night…
Okay hi. American Idol is giving me stress! Why am I sooo into it this year? It literally stresses me out..
So we jump right into the show with the usual Sofa or Stools. Michael Johns gets the sofa! (He is sooo hawt.) Next up is David Archuleta.... guess what he got! You are correct. The boy goes to the sofa. One more before the break, Carly Smithson. She’s on the sofa!
Back from the break for viewer calls. *yawn* I hate viewer calls. Ryan never picks the funny ones I see up on the board either. What’s this? Aband performing? From the ‘Next Top Band’ or something.. they seem suck-y to me. Not my thing maybe. Time for commercial. FORD commercial! Very cute! Do they ever air these again?
Okay, more Sofa or Stools.
So I knew that yesterday was April Fools’ Day. I even wrote about it here. Yet when I was sitting in front of the TV with a house full of people ready to watch Idol and Ryan said that tonight’s broadcast was going to be preempted I totally fell for it. Omg.
As usual with guests for American Idol, I ended up putting the blog on a back burner. I figure it would be rude to keep pausing the show so I can run upstairs to review each performance. Heh. Right. So that being said, I should also admit that we talked over most of the show too. Good thing Idol blogging isn’t my job, right? Anyway, it was country night. Blech. At least that’s what I thought it was going to be. Dolly Parton totally saved us. She was mentoring the kids this week so the songs were from her career. Who knew there were so many Dolly songs? Great songs, too.
I thought David Cook and Carly Smithson really did well. Kristi Lee Cook sucked again, which surprised me during country week. Ramiele I think is in danger, but I am always wrong… BTW David Cook was hospitalized after last nights performance for heart palpitations! He was released shortly after and is fine now.
