Bah. Let me just tell you, incase you didn’t know… When you have something cool to do after work, your day just draaags. Beh. I never thought I’d get through it, but I did. And we just got home from watching Pirates of the Caribbean, At World’s End. IN THE THEATER! It was another *gay event!! I loved it. I love all the Pirates movies, all things Disney, and the actual Pirates of the Caribbean ride so no surprise there really. Not to mention Johnny Depp. Hawt! But people. People. If you go to see it… Really. Watch it all the way through. Credits and all. Just sayin’.
Anyhoo, so it turns out that my beloved dp.com was down again today. Down for 12 hours I think. I am still watching my robot problem. I think we have improved with some creative htaccess stuff (blocking bots and stuff like that) but there are still some IP’s that hit me really hard for bandwidth but do not show as robots. Like 2 today that oddly visited around 12 hours ago. I am blocking them. If they are actual people visiting, then they are doing some weird shit. Who puts that much load on a server by reading a blog or listening to a podcast? Rude.
*This event was less gay and smaller but still fun. I met a girl named $Betty$ too! Not that Betty. Heh. But another gal named $Betty$ (At least I think that was her name. Now that I typed it a few times it seems odd to know more than one $Betty$...). She was super cute, as one would expect…
Ladies, the hottest trend on the internets right now is Eco-friendly actions. And by Eco-friendly I of course am speaking about those reusable grocery bags. As seen on manypopularwebsites, the trend is growing! Because paper or plastic is just not good enough… There are many facts to support this. I cannot begin to list them here, but I am all on board now. I have been an active recycler for the past few years (especially since Serial Mom, heh) and this is just one more thing I can do for the environment. Recycling the plastic bags is just not enough. Let’s just not use them at all. Plus, how hawt to be onboard with the latest trends, yanno?
So I ordered mine today after shopping around and not liking the local options. I mean the Ralph’s bags were sooo cute, as well as black. They sported a big Ralph’s logo though… The inevitable qestion came out of my mouth.. “What if I am shopping at Von’s that day?”
Yeah. Awkward. I don’t care what they said to reassure me. I am all about appearances yo. So I chose to go with Betty’s source, in red over the green. I don’t know if they’ll POP but they will match my kitchen. See? Appearances. And what a presentation I’ll be giving to my family.
Keeping in mind my ADD as well as my OCD… not to mention my tendency to not necessarily exaggerate, but kinda round up.. often alter the reality and timeline of what I say. I offer these tales of my sordid past anyway. I also include their inspiration.
Richard was cooking an ambitious meal tonight. It is one of my favorites that he does, yet complex enough to have been ‘gourmet’. I thought he should present it as a blogumentary! Allthecoolkids are doing it! So I got him the camera, taking it out of the case, switching it on, and setting it on the counter. Apparently that was my fatal error. You see, we have two cats.
Can you tell where this is going?
Yeah. The little gal-strap was hanging over the edge. It must have been swinging enticingly because I no sooner left the room when the camera crashed to the floor. It landed squarely on the lens, knocking it to a disturbing severe angle. The camera can no longer ‘see’. Not to worry, it was an older camera. Not worth a lot in itself… Just not in the budget for replacement anytime soon.
The worst part was that I had my man all hopped up on the blogumentary thing. He had to use his phone for the pictures. He was bitter. But he did manage to do the post. See?
Yep. I made a text date with Betty and signed up for Twitter Macworld updates. I was all set to get all the info LIVE. From the actual event attendees!!
Then I proceeded to sleep till noon. Noon people!
What else can I say at this point that everyone hasn’t heard already? iPhone makes me very excited. Apple TV, not as much. I don’t get it. Is it like a Tivo too, or just puts iTunes on my TV?? Meh. I can just watch on my Mac. All we need is a nice chair in that area.
No OS X release? I wanted that too! Oh well.
So I had to sign off the Macworld Twitter thing. This is what it gave me:
It’s a holiday Edition! (Listen in for special holiday sounds!) Sheldon and I seem to know each other pretty well and at this point it’s like we just record conversations… Listen in if you like eavesdropping! Heh! We WILL organize soon, promise! Anyway, we talk a lot on this special holiday episode aboot a lot of holiday things… I still sound like I am muted tho. WTH?? Can anyone tell me what my problem is?? We also went way too long. We went beyond the reach of GarageBand with this one. I had to cut stuff out! Anyhoo.
Mentioned on the program: Buckley’s Mixture, Skype Virus, visiting parents, holiday traditions, our holiday wishes, the coat with the orange stripe, Linux, Windows, YouTube, multimedia, dp.com crashes, Modem, Boris, CoCo, Chanel, Betty Nicole, STD’s, and more… we are kinda fabulous. Really.
bloviate \BLOH-vee-ayt\, intransitive verb:
To speak or write at length in a pompous or boastful manner.
So here we are after a long week. Sure it’s Wednesday to you, but for us retail folk it’s a new week just starting as we head face first into another holiday shopping weekend. Ugh. So if I seem a little down you’ll know why. Plus, I think I have a cold. Heh. Aren’t I fun?
In this podcast I bitch about a few things: Tech trouble and the Missouri Power Outage, my own power outage in San Diego, my cell phone problems, Target and their dirteh food, Lance and Reichen’s break-up (i said fiction instead of non-fiction tho. loser!), and my personal efforts to spread cheer across the internets with a sassy and personalized holiday Card.
Use the contact page if you want me to send a card. Hollar.
I am back again. I think I have to be careful kids. It is a bad technology week for me. First, the entire blog gets knocked out. Granted that was more of a natural disaster… but still. Then my cell phone gets all possessed. It won’t play music anymore, and the little memory card that holds the music has been making the entire phone hang. Who ever heard of a cell phone hanging? But then who’d have thought it would piss me off that my phone can’t play music.. Don’t even get me started on my work tech issues, cause for one, I’d have to make this a ‘members only’ post, and I don’t feel like all of that right now. Then the blog goes down AGAIN. Nothing could be done, just a symptom of the previous downage… Anyhoo, I just don’t want to break the site again. I’ll try to post gently.
I am glad to be back here. I missed my little web space ever so much. My friends tried to help me through it. I have had free reign at Betty’s place for a while now and she totally encouraged me to post there. Sheldon had recently made me an author at his place as well, and he re-itterated that I can post there anytime. Aren’t they great? I totally love my online friends. They rawk! But as nice as that was it wasn’t the same. Don’t get me wrong, I totally posted on their sites. I am an addict, remember? But I can’t fart on a podcast on other peoples sites. I can only do that here. I also can’t just pick up my phone in the car and record a post just bitching aboot traffic on other peoples sites. Well, maybe at Betty’s if I asked first, but she is my BFF. One expects that to be okay in that situation. But I think you get the picture. There’s no place like home.
Plus, I missed you all. So tell me, what did you do this weekend while I was away?
My plans are canceled. Sigh. I am bummed! Richard and I were gonna go to dinner with Betty and the Beetle for dinner tonight. I skipped lunch, knowing we’d be feasting on Mexican at Santee’s famous Marietta’s Restaurant. It all should have been fine. Sure, there was a Charger game today and we are kinda close to the stadium, but with the flow of traffic that we’ve seen time and time again Betty and Beetle should have been able to get to our place, no problem. We then could have taken a back road to get pointed towards Santee and started a fun evening. It was not to be…
I was a block away from home when I texted Betty with the go ahead to come on over to get us. The light turned green. We didn’t move. Then slowly we crawled ahead. A truck in front of me signaling left turned right. Weird. Then I saw the accident. It was placed in such a way that what should have been a one way traffic inconvenience became a all way nightmare. I was forced to turn into the traffic, away from my house. Suck! I called Betty and told her we needed to cancel. There was no way I was having them fight that traffic only to have our escape route clogged up too.
So no dinner out tonight. No dinner in either. We have no food right now. Well we do, but not the right combination for a meal…
She’s back!! My BFF Betty Nicole is back from.. well she didn’t actually GO anywhere. She had parents visiting, and taking up all her time and being parental and junk. Eew.
