I am not sure how other people figure this out, but at our house there are some clear rules. More so in the morning. The first one up makes coffee and medicines/feeds the cats. The last one out of bed makes the bed. Makes sense, right? So when I got up this morning, it was totally within reason to expect there to be coffee, even if Richard had gotten up earlier and had already left the house. Totally within reason! But no. I awoke to nothing. He got up, took care of the cats, ate something, left me the plate to clean, showered, dressed, (all without coffee!?) and left. Knowing how he is about his morning coffee, I have decided that he was just being evil. Being late, as the excuse, will not be accepted. If he ATE, he had time to brew coffee.

So there I was, all bleary eyed, heading down to the kitchen to nothing. No coffee, just a plate. A dirty plate. What a suck-y way to start my off day. I work for the next 6 days straight, so Tuesdays are supposed to be nice and relaxing… *sigh*

Okay. I should be sleepy any minute now. I just finished my Sleepy Time Tea. (Okay, finding that video about the tea was a total bonus. I get that brand in the non-extra variety. Same bear label tho.)

So anyway, here it is 3:30 AM. People in other time zones are tweeting good morning on the Twitter. I hate hearing (reading) good morning when I have yet to sleep yo. It totally makes me all cringe-y. Ew. You gotta be wondering by now, “Why the hell is this idiot up so late?” Well, lemme just tell you. I was on the closing shift at work. It’s the one to ten. This time of year its pretty quiet at my retail establishment, so we typically have no problem getting out on time. Tonight tho, as I was making my final rounds I saw an odd puddle on the ground up near the receiving area. It took me a minute to realize it was coming from the fire sprinkler. Just a steady drip. Not good. Our building had a drip like that last year and half the lower level ended up under water when the sprinkler burst. So I had to call it in. This type of issue classifies as an emergency. I had to wait for someone to come out and assess/fix it. On a Saturday at ten o’clock. Yeah. So it took a long time to get someone who would come out. A real long time. Then it took a while for the repair, once we established that it was in fact the sprinkler and not just like weird or whatever. Right. So I left work at 2 AM.

My workday was a bit longer than I expected it to be. Someone was late so I kinda had to stay. I hate when that happens, but I am using it as my excuse to sleep in tomorrow. I was supposed to be in at 6 again, but that 6-3 business just kills me. I hate waking up at 4. Somehow that seems more like nighttime than morning, yanno? 5 is sooo much better. Well, I’d actually prefer to sleep till 10 but beggars and choosers and junk. At least I had no plans today. Richard is doing a gourmet meal tonight tho, so it is good that I was not forced to stay thru till closing. Heh. Oh, and it’s Grammys night! Just kidding. We prolly won’t watch that. Three and a half hours of acceptance speeches? Erm, no. Plus I am not thrilled enough with the music scene right now to care.

Oh, here’s something! I don’t think I mentioned that Richard got a new car. His lease was up so it was time for the next one. It’s another Passat, but much sportier than his last one. Maybe we’ll do pictures soon. It’s cute! Heh.

What am I getting ready for? A late night hike? No! work. Today I am on an overnight shift. 8 till five AM. How nice does that sound? Hopefully it’ll be fun. Hopefully I won’t be feeling sick. My cough is lingering. That scares me. I am always the one prone to bronchitis. *crosses fingers* I am sure I’ll be fine. I just need to try to take it easy… On an overnight shift. Missing sleep. Crazy.

Anyhoo. Gotta go. I want to be a bit early…

Remember when I said I thought it was strange how smoothly the month was going? Heh. Well, as it turns out December has won again. I really felt it this morning after my 3 hours of sleep. I resented that my schedule made it physically impossible to balance work and personal life. I resented it a lot when I was 20 minutes late this morning (on my 6th workday of the week which should have been my day off…) and actually got a LECTURE on the importance of TIMELINESS.

I am on the last work day of my seven day stretch. I am tired and sore. And tired. It’s the late shifts that kill ya. Not because they are hard to work. I am a night person, that part is easy! It’s coming off of them. Ten in the morning seems soooo early! I want more sleep! Oh well. Off to work again. Maybe I’ll really moblog something today. I mean. I owe a post. This one sucks. Heh.

What’s the hold up UPS lady? You are usually so early. Early and chipper! We can always tell it’s you by the way your big truck careens wildly into the culdesac. Today I have yet to hear you pass. I have been hanging around the house all day because you left a note on my door telling my you were coming by. When I finally got tired of waiting and went out, I ended up hurrying back just in case you were near! Still I have nothing.

I want to go to the grocery store. I left my top down because I knew I’d be going back out after you came! Yet I am waiting. It’s 4:30. Have I become your last stop? I feel so cheated.
