Dedicated To The Idol Boys
what's up?

I trust Fred will get the biggest kick out of this…

It’s official. Daniel and Richard have finally caught up to the Jones’. Well, at least as far as cable service. That’s right, we picked up our new HD-DVR converter box today. We can now pause, fast forward, rewind, and best of all record TV. Finally. (I love it! I love it! I love it! I love it!)

It took a bit of work. First of all our online request wouldn’t go thru. We had to call. Then, the phone guy suggested we just drive over and trade it in. The local store is “easy to get to”. Erm. No. It’s not. We drove for a half an hour, called for directions, drove some more, and called again. I should have MapQuested before we left. Sheesh! But we get the box home and plug him in. Supposedly after a half an hour he’s good to go. Not so much. So I unplug him and plug him back, then I have to leave. I had that work thing, but on the way I call to warn Richard that he has to go home and call tech support. Hours (and I do mean hours...) later I get home. Turns out there was no progress with tech support. We have an appointment on Friday for a guy to come out.

This doesn’t work for me. I mean great that we got the appointment, but I can’t leave it alone. My OCD made me get in behind that TV and try everything. I plug shit in, unplug it, plug it in a new combination. I went crazy. I did succeed tho! I got it to download it’s info and turn on. Wee! But then there was another error. I called tech again. But now it works! And TV is better, crisper, and brighter!! Supposedly we had HDTV before, but I wonder if it was the good stuff. Our TV looks amazing now!

And, I totally paused it when I went pee. Hahahahha! Fun stuff. I kept the appointment for the guy to come out tho. I think there are connection issues based on our Pay Per View experiences with the last box. Better to fix it all now before holiday hours at work start and I miss my shows…

Oktoberfest ‘07
what's up?

Yes, I was at Oktoberfest today. I was totally excited! I love a good Oktoberfest! But I also love a street fair with all the shopping… It was a win-win!

So anyhoo, I had this wild hair last year, and went with a friend I had at the time. Apparently the Oktoberfest in La Mesa is a very big deal out here. So this year I gathered up some of my Idol boys and THE Idol girl and we hit La Mesa like Paris, Nicole, and Britney out on the town! Okay, not really. First we had breakfast. But not all together. The breakfast part of our plan turned out to have guests that weren’t doing the ‘fest. But it was fantastic anyway. Now breakfast is NOT a social event for me, so even tho it was my idea, Richard did the prep. I just tried to wake up and look pretty. He did an amazing job. Then our Idol girl arrived with homemade banana bread. With no nuts. It was then that I knew that I loved her. *wink*

Then it was time to catch the public transportation to La Mesa! We parted ways with the party poopers not doing the ‘fest (after they dropped us off at the trolley station, sure it is only like 2 blocks away but, yanno.) We rode like 3 stops and then got stuck in what will forever be known as the mysterious ‘trolley traffic’ and it took like an hour to get there. It’s 5 miles away. We were at the fugly Grossmont Station forever. It was there that we realized how many trolley folk were actually headed to our same destination. We were afraid. I felt sooo bad since I had been ‘Julie Cruise Director’ on this one. And now, stuck at a sweaty dusty trolley stop for 30 minutes? Gah!

Eventually we arrived, hit a beer tent, and all was well. We met up with the rest of our Idol boys that were doing the ‘fest and the rest is on Flickr, yo. It was a blast!

I do love Oktober. Maybe I’ll do my Autumn Decor Home Tour soon.

Bite The Birthday Boy; Podcast # 39
it's a podcast!

Here we are at Richard’s birthday once again. Yay! Could I be more gay about it? It was all gay all night yo! It was a fantastic time, as I recount on the podcast thing. Plus, Richard got bit! Yikes! Listen in as I unfold the whole sordid story…

Plus. OMG. I was at the most trendy gay bar that played a HAWT mix of Britney’s new song, Gimme More. Sooo awesome! I felt like a lucky princess with a personalized soundtrack. Heh.

An Update
aw, lovemaking a livingwhat's up?

Good lawd! I am getting so late in my internet endeavors lately! What is it? Midnight? This “visit” preparation at work has me exhausted! Why is it when I am exhausted I also (ironically) can’t sleep? I am a freak of nature.

Anyhoo, I have been madly preparing for Richard’s birthday celebration this weekend. We have a gathering with the Idol boys on Friday (tomorrow, well later today..) but I am still unsure who’s coming. I know of one for sure. I have a firm maybe on another. Then there was the one who said yeah, but hasn’t responded to the change of venue that I sent out today. (Turn’s out I used an obscure email account for that one on accident. I may be in the ‘junk’ file. Stupid, stupid me!) Then we have the no-response folks. Could be a very intimate celebration. “Very exclusive” is of course the term I will use. At least I am a firm believer in celebrating a “Birthday Week”, there is more to come. I have something planned for just us on Saturday and his work peeps got Sunday covered. So there you go. 90 percent more things happening than last year. All should be good.

**** OMG! The internet is being a bitch tonight! I was just knocked off line. I had to quit all apps (losing my time stamp on this post, dammit! So much for daily posting..)! I even had a facking email going. Spooty internet! I had to restart and log back in just to type this last bit…

I Think I Do
what's up?

Last night was our first “Movie Night” with the Idol boys. It had been a few weeks since we all had seen each other, and so “Movie Night” was created. I think we may use it to fill the social void left by Idol and SYTYCD. At least until the fall programing starts!

Our first movie was I Think I Do. “A screwball comedy about a gay couple at a straight couple’s wedding.” It starred Alexis Arquette as a man. Interesting, but that’s not why the film was selected. It was because the cast also included Tuc Watkins. Fred thought it would be a fun idea to introduce us to one half of the new gay couple joining the Desperate Housewives. Heh. He was right!

Anyhoo, it was a good little movie. Romantic, funny, and a some cute guys. I liked it! It gets 4 out of five smooches on the official dp.com rating system.

On a side note, I found myself amazed that Alexis has taken the leap and had the surgury. She was adorable as a boy! But whatever. Be yourself and all that.. I know there are many reasons one might feel the need to swap genders, and cuteness is probably least important. At least the situation allowed me to use the tern “fully functioning vagina” in legitimate conversation.

So You Think You Can… Night One
pop culturewhat's up?

Okay. Now it’s official. The auditions are over. We have our top twenty. Let the So You Think You Can Dance viewing parties begin! Yes, I said viewing party. With our reality show viewings we now like to gather with some good friends and bond over the program. Okay, really it’s just a bunch of queens dissing the dresses yo! I kid.. But seriously. Watch these things in groups. At least the performances.. discuss and bond. It really is a great time. Plus it motivates some much needed mid-week housekeeping. Heh, really, it is a blast! If only there was a weekend edition. I am sure we’d start a drinking game of some sort.. Anyhoo.

With American Idol Richard and I hosted the finale. We were just getting to know everyone, and it seemed like a nice way to thank all the other hosts throughout the season. It seemed only appropriate that we host the beginning of So You Think. Plus I blogged about it, remember? Yeah, that post was copied and emailed out to The Group. Yeah, so again the internet and my life intertwined a bit further.

So my notes on the show? Erm… Mary the judge still gives me gas. Is it true that she is or has diddled some of the former male contestants? Gross. I know she has her fans, but the horse lady makes me angry. She should get no diddles. Period. Ew. That said, I do have my two favorites of this initial 20. I like a few of the boys, but the hawtness dp.com award is with Kameron this week. OMG. Hawt. Oh, and he seems to dance well. With the girls, I am having a hard time with the names, and the Glamor Shots bio photos on the site are no help. Why do they all look alike?? She’s the one with the dark hair. She did the ‘oil in my hands’ bit.. I love her. I just cannot remember her name.. Damn.

Other to watch are Hok and that other boy with the white belt.. See how it is with soooo many contestants? Confusing. I am describing the OUTFITS instead of knowing the names! Gah! Oh well. It was a fun night just the same.

But I miss Idol. This dance business has me feeling like a fake wine critic: This merlot is feisty without being over aggressive… right. I will try to get better. Maybe I should actually take notes. Hrm.

So You Think You Can Watch?
pop culture

imageSo as it turns out, now that my newly beloved American Idol is over we have a new program we want to turn into a group thing. So You Think You Can Dance. Richard and I tried it out tonight. There were two back to back episodes. I watched them both and thought… Well, I don’t know. First of all, it’s early. I mean, there are still way too many contestants. I couldn’t keep track, other than I did notice that they eliminated 3 very hawt boys like one after one. I barely had time to morn! That poor ex-football player! Aw!

The other thing about the show that bugs is the Paula-like character. What’s her name… I don’t know and I don’t see it on the site. Mary or something? Anyway, she is so obnoxious. Her laugh especially. Is it just me? She whinnies like a horse. It is fun to watch the dancers though. I do already really like ‘Olivia’. She is the one with the sick mom at home. I like her attitude. She’s hawt. But overall, I think I might need the group viewing aspect to be able to enjoy the show. Otherwise I am too easily distracted. Helllloo internet! Besides, I miss my Idol Boys.

We will so host next Wednesday to get the ball rolling. Maybe I’ll get just as hooked. Okay, I probably will. “Reality” TV is so distracting from reality.
