SYTYCD!! Winner!
pop culture

Go Sabra! Didn’t I say it would be her? Let’s just say I did, okay? The whole time. Shhh!

The supremely talented yet relatively inexperienced 19-year-old was crowned the winner of the third season of So You Think You Can Dance Thursday night, becoming the hit Fox show’s first female champ and surprising critics who felt that Lacey’s flair or Danny’s God-given talent (or, heck, even Neil’s pretty hair) would prevail in the end.
Although it looked as if she might have rolled her ankle during her solo Wednesday, Johnson, who will pocket $250,000 in prize money, was standing tall tonight.

It was nice to see some of my favorites along the way back again. I have spent the last 2 hours catching up with the show since I was, of course, at work. I even got to see Jaimie!

Jaimie and Hok Finals
Uploaded by mickeymcc

There were a lot of other “remember me” moments where the judges called back dancers to see a dance again. I like that, in theory. I just kinda wish they did maybe the style again and a new dance. Maybe I am missing the point of it? It is just for filler, right?

[WHAT THE HELL IS CAT WEARING??? OMFG! She looks like a dish scrubbie. My last gay nerve is plucked. Somebody needs to beat her down, show her..  Before she dresses for NATIONAL TV again!!]

Anyhoo, it was an amazing season. Danny should have won out of that final four. Oh, and Jaime was robbed. What the hell with all those conservative styles she got all season? Other than those 2 gripes I am good. Congrats Sabra!

And She Is Safe Again!
pop culture

Go Jaimie!

Okay, so we all know I never see the results show. I just cannot blog about it fairly. What I want you to do, if you didn’t see it, is check out Blogging So You Think You Can Dance. They have it covered:

Opening group number is Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, choreographed by Jean-Marc Genereaux.

Cat explains about the importance of the top 10.

First 2 couples are Dominic & Sabra, and Danny & Anya. One couple is safe.
Full Post

I cannot believe I miss all that each week. Bummer. Anyhoo, congrats to JaimieG! I am excited to see you dance with a new partner!…

Musicality. Wait. What?
pop culture

Okay somebody fill me in. What exactly is ‘musicality’? I *think* I know what it is. But why did the judges say it again and again, over and over. You know, it is the new ‘pitchy’. Like on Idol, where Randy would say “Yo dog, check it out… I don’t know man.. for me it was kinda pitchy.” That’s it!

You guys were working on your musicality with that one! I wasn’t feeling the musicality with that one. Heh.

So what did I get out of tonight’s SYTYCD? Well, musicality speaking there were those that stood out, and those that need to spend a bit more time in rehearsal! Oh, and what was Cat wearing? I mean what was that? Her dress was so short I could see her serial number. Oi. But we aren’t here to bitch about poor Cat. We are here to talk about dance. I think the favorite couple of the night in our group was Danny & Anya. They were, DANNY was amazing. He is really pretty! Oh, and he can dance. Yeah.

Cedric and Sabra opened, and were solid as usual. That Sabra really is growing on me after tonight. Hok and my new BFF on Twitter JAIMIE were next. I have to be honest. I think this is the second week in a row for them to draw a bad style. Or maybe choreography. I don’t claim to know about dance, but I am an average American, like the ones that vote. I don’t think this was a routine that America will ‘get’ so much. As usual, the judges loved Jaimie as much as we do. She just dances so beautifully, and I think rises above the overall choreography. Hok was dissed a bit again. I will be glad when we move into the next stage where they aren’t latched to the same partners…

Pasha and Sarah did this weird Jazz number to a Queen song. We were confused, but the judges loved it. Neil and Lauren got stuck with Mia as choreographer. I think Mia might be a bit mean, but that’s just me. Anyhoo, I couldn’t get past the outfits with this one. The gloves! What? Were they doing dishes after? Sheesh.

Then Danny and Anya were up. I loved this one and wished the screen would go black and white for a minute, just to experience such a classic style like I would an old movie. It was gorgeous. Kameron and Lacey wrapped it up with an okay Hip Hop bit. I normally like Hip Hop dance, and I did enjoy this one, but the judges didn’t. They even dissed Kameron, but I have to say I think they were right. He just didn’t ‘bring it’ tonight. Like they said, I expected more.

So there we go. I can’t wait till tomorrow. Who is Twittering the results for me?? You all know I work the closing shift, so help me out yo!

Wow. Can I just say wow? One of the best episodes yet. It seemed like all of the dancers had really become confidant. The performances were top notch, even in the judges eyes. I am easy to please. The last performance was especially amazing. Who was it? Hmm… (I took no notes today, I am a tired boy after my neighbors got me drunk last night. anyhoo...)

What had me worried was the judges response to my BFF Jaimie and her partner Hok. They seemed to like Jaimie (phew!) but Hok had less than favorable responses. I am worried! I do not want Jaimie anywhere NEAR the bottom 3. She was amazing in that Waltz! She floated! The judges thought she had ‘great lines’. But it WAS a Waltz. Yawn! I mean, I guess you can only do so much with that..

Al I can say is: Come on America! Keep Jaimie safe!!!!

Hey yo. The Idol Bois meet again, though not for American Idol… That’s so last month. Now we are doing So You Think You Can Dance… I should come up with a new name for our little group, eh? Anyhoo, tonight was a little different, as we were joined by some new people. Hi new people! They were actually really sweet. I love the new people we are meeting these days! Our friends have the cutest friends… On a sad note we were missing one of the original, if not THE original Idol Boi tonight. We missed you Fred!!

Okay, now down to business. Remember last week when I wondered if my friends would think I was weird if I took notes? Well, they totally didn’t. In fact, I had forgotten to bring a note pad and our hosts totally brought me one. Heh. Now just to read them…

The first pair to perform was Lauren and Neil. That Neil is cuter than I thought. The style was Hip Hop. Mia thought they were ‘better than last week’. Mary ‘just loved it’. (Mary still annoys me.) Nigel felt that tonight they were ‘setting the bar’. I actually feel sorry for them being first. It is hard to remember how they did, even with notes yo.

Next we had Pasha and Jessi. The style was ‘Stiff Jazz’. What is that? The movements were nature inspired, as in like bird like. Mia said that she ‘loves birds’ and that it was ‘amazing’. Mary stated the obvious, that ‘you are both beautiful people’. Nigel seemed to just plug the show. Hrm. They are both seriously pretty though, at least we thought so…

So You Think You Can… Night One
pop culturewhat's up?

Okay. Now it’s official. The auditions are over. We have our top twenty. Let the So You Think You Can Dance viewing parties begin! Yes, I said viewing party. With our reality show viewings we now like to gather with some good friends and bond over the program. Okay, really it’s just a bunch of queens dissing the dresses yo! I kid.. But seriously. Watch these things in groups. At least the performances.. discuss and bond. It really is a great time. Plus it motivates some much needed mid-week housekeeping. Heh, really, it is a blast! If only there was a weekend edition. I am sure we’d start a drinking game of some sort.. Anyhoo.

With American Idol Richard and I hosted the finale. We were just getting to know everyone, and it seemed like a nice way to thank all the other hosts throughout the season. It seemed only appropriate that we host the beginning of So You Think. Plus I blogged about it, remember? Yeah, that post was copied and emailed out to The Group. Yeah, so again the internet and my life intertwined a bit further.

So my notes on the show? Erm… Mary the judge still gives me gas. Is it true that she is or has diddled some of the former male contestants? Gross. I know she has her fans, but the horse lady makes me angry. She should get no diddles. Period. Ew. That said, I do have my two favorites of this initial 20. I like a few of the boys, but the hawtness dp.com award is with Kameron this week. OMG. Hawt. Oh, and he seems to dance well. With the girls, I am having a hard time with the names, and the Glamor Shots bio photos on the site are no help. Why do they all look alike?? She’s the one with the dark hair. She did the ‘oil in my hands’ bit.. I love her. I just cannot remember her name.. Damn.

Other to watch are Hok and that other boy with the white belt.. See how it is with soooo many contestants? Confusing. I am describing the OUTFITS instead of knowing the names! Gah! Oh well. It was a fun night just the same.

But I miss Idol. This dance business has me feeling like a fake wine critic: This merlot is feisty without being over aggressive… right. I will try to get better. Maybe I should actually take notes. Hrm.
