I love October. I just wish my work life would slow down so I could enjoy it! Today was one of my last 3 (?) Saturdays off this year, and I wanted to enjoy it. So I slept in and did minimal chores around the house. Then I gathered up my man and we went off to the Pumpkin Patch. Actually I elected to go to the “Pumpkin Farm” in Bonita. I put that in quotes because although it looked to be an actual pumpkin farm online, and it was one of the flagship locations of my favorite brand of pumpkin patch (Pumpkin Station if you are wondering), it was a bit disappointing. The maize maze was 50 cents a person, and you could see the fence that the corn was strapped to. The “pick your own pumpkin” area was a dead part of the field with the pumpkins set in amongst the dry vines. When I tried to go back to the actual farm for pictures I was stopped. Apparently no one is aloud back there. Bummer.
I made the best of it tho. It was as kitchy overall as I like, but when they where in Mission Valley last year the presentation was waaay better. I guess you try harder when your patch is in the Target parking lot versus an actual farm. The pumpkins were big and beautiful. That part was the same. I think I got one that is a bit too big. Once I got it home I was like “Where do I put this thing?”. We aren’t carving till next week! Now I have this enormous pumpkin in my living room. Oh, and another on my petite front stoop. The drama. My home is officially vomiting autumn decor. The fake pumpkins are now crowded out by the real ones.
You know, the holidays are supposed to be easier when you don’t have children. Whatever. Here’s Richard kissing on a Llama.
