There are going to be ups and downs in any career choice and no matter what you are doing, you are always going to have a “the grass is always greener” sort of attitude - but you know what - it is NOT always greener!
I am willing to bet you a bajillion dollars that the allumni association requested those stories and quotes - just like my alma mater does all the time - and you know what, if I actually wrote one for them, I would have to soup it up and make it sound sappy and nice - whether it was the truth or not!!! And I am sure they only post the good ones - they don’t post the ones that say - “Total fucking waste of my time and money educationally speaking - but the keg parties were good!”
Hope you start feeling better!!!
@betty: more creative than blogging?? huh? what?
D.P.,
I know ALL about Corporate America and it’s related drama.
I’m dealing with unsettling feelings here at work as of the late. its crazy, I’ve done nothing wrong. I work with a bunch of snitches and would be high-schoolers (but they are in the late 20’s to mid 40’s) who talk smack and tattle tale on one another rather then be an adult and go to the source directly. What ever, I’m sorry for venting just letting you know there are others out there experiencing the work s-it!
Your friend always,

I can vouch for you that it sucks not to love your job, especially in your situation, where you actually studied to attain a position (kind of) in your field.
If there is any advice I can give you, Daniel, it’s that you really must find your passion. If Richard will support you through the lean times, you must go for it. And by “support,” I don’t just mean financially, although money is one of the biggest problems in any couple. I mean overall, emotionally, mentally - you have to know he’s there for you and pulling for you to take the kind of money-hit it sounds like you’d have to take if you changed careers.
Either that, or quit reading the alumni stories, maybe?
Hope you’re in a happier place soon, Daniel.
