A cardigan sold by Shein that is only available up to a size UK10, went viral on social media after users were shocked to see a UK10 described as equivalent to size XL.
The China-based fast fashion retailer listed the DAZY Drop Shoulder Pocket Patched Cardigan for £ 27.49 on its website, showing one model wearing the loose item. over a striped blouse and black pants for a ‘casual’ look.
A client from London took to Twitter with a screenshot of the size chart, noting how the retailer lists a UK size 10 as the equivalent of an XL.
The woman, known as Lolli on Twitter, quickly racked up over 21,000 likes and a flood of comments from others outraged by the size.

Calling attention to the size chart, the buyer wrote: “Guys look at these sizes f ******”.
A flood of responses argued that a UK10 is often considered a small to medium size, while others have claimed that inconsistent sizing in the fashion industry is fueling eating disorders.
One person wrote: “The idea of size 6 being ‘average’ is crazy to me, size 6 is so small. I always considered 12-14 to be average, 16+ tall. ‘
Another said: “And then plus sizes start at size 16 i think so i guess if you are 12 + 14 you just ???”
“And they wonder why so many girls and boys suffer from eating disorders. It’s honestly so disgusting. I could never shop here because I would be a XXXXXXXXXXL, ”added a third.
Another wrote: “Isn’t it amazing that people feel insecure about their bodies … It’s bad enough that clothing sizes are inconsistent, but to call a size ten an XL … WTF? “

A flood of Twitter users have argued that a size UK10 is generally considered small, while complaining about inconsistent sizing in the fashion industry.
Shein describes the long sleeve cardigan as an apricot item for spring / fall, made from a combination of viscose, polyester and polyamide.
Buyers are encouraged to machine wash or professionally dry clean the cardigan, part of the brand’s DAZY collection, described as “effortless” street wear for every day.
A size UK4 is listed as small, alongside UK6 as medium and UK8 as large.
Despite the backlash from social media users, the cardigan has a positive review stream on Shein’s website.
One person wrote: “Good size, good material, highly recommend”
Another said, “I normally buy a medium or a large for Shein sweaters because I like oversized fits. DAZY usually fits small, but the large was the right size for an oversize. I could have opted for a medium for a more fitted look.
