This was a sad day, as it was Sunday and our good friend (and adopted little brother) @DaNo413 had to go home…
BUT! Not till after another fabulous brunch! We headed over to the Miracle Mile Mall at Planet Hollywood and figured we’d just find something. We found deliciousness at Lombardi’s Romagna Mia After some good food we parted ways with our friend Dano and began to SHOP. This was Richard’s fave mall on previous trips so Joelle and I knew we had to let him do his thing. I hung out for the power shopping while Joelle agreed to meet us later.
After 23 shoe stores I was finally allowed to leave the Miracle Mile and even got to pick our next Vegas Adventure. Of course I went with Monorail because I was gonna see the Stratosphere if it killed me… So we walked to the Official Looking Monorail Entrance: Bally’s. Big mistake yo. The Monorail is like 22 miles away from those blue circles and escalators. Anyway, after trudging thru the old casino, lobbies, halls, a very dying mall area, and more halls we finally reached the rear of Bally’s and got on the Monorail… We headed strait for the Strat. Or at least the closest stop.. The Sahara. Poor little worn out thing. This is actually the “seedy” side of the strip. We ran thru there pretty fast and began the small hike to the Strat. On the way you can’t help but stop in at the World’s Largest Gift Shop. It was delightfully tacky and trashy and huge. We literally spent like an hour in there. *time suck* LOL! When we finally got to The Stratosphere, after stepping over the homeless and dodging the drunks barf, we looked at going up the tower for a quick peek. Turns out there was a LOUNGE with LIVE MUSIC. Helloooo Level 107 Lounge! What a great venue! We sat and cocktailed (2 for 1 from 4 to 7 Martinis!) and listened to live music (a great cover lounge act). In fact when Joelle and Mike saw where we were we were instructed not to move, as they were coming up!
HAHA! After a couple more hours there enjoying the music and amazing views we headed to The Strip once more, this time to The Cosmopolitan. OMG. O. M. G. This place was unreal! Our destination was The Chandelier, where you are literally inside a giant crystal chandelier. It was amazing. The drinks and service were exceptional. A fave for sure. We dined at Holsteins, an unlikely choice as I am not a burger man, per say, however the salmon burger was amazing! Then it was back to The Chandelier for a night-cap before heading home.
Another terrific day with Joelle and Mike in that little town in Nevada, Las Vegas…
My name is Daniel Phillip and I approve this blog post.
Well the Holidays have finally wrapped up here at dp.com. I know, I left the hottie Santa up much longer than usual. If you are still experiencing Christmas please *click here* and you should be good to go.
So with the end of New Year’s I finally got a decent break from work. A 4 day weekend! Richard was home New Year’s Day and so we did a “mini” New Years Eve. Chinese food, champagne, a movie, and a kiss. Awwww! It was nice. We saw Up. It was adorable and I teared up twice. If you haven’t seen it and are in the mood for something fun, get it. On Saturday we had my little Post holiday party. It was a “toast to your survival” theme. We got lots of bubbley and we encouraged the guests to bring a nibble to share. We ended up enjoying some great snacks! My friends rock yo. It turned out to be an interesting mix of people but all seemed to get along and I think everyone had a good time.
The next day found Richard and I a bit over-hung as it were (champagne is mean like that). We figured a greasy yummy brunch was just what we needed. Off to Urban MO’s! The food was good the atmosphere better. We ended up staying right thru the end of the Charger Game! I swear it was one of my butchest moments, watching the game with the boys… LOL Later we went out AGAIN and had a boozy time at the Bar Named After a Body Part (as I call it) with a good friend of ours.
Too much fun. Today was errands and stuff so that tomorrow, our last day off, will be restful. Well, right after we go to the gym anyway… THAT is one thing I have’t done enough this week. I don’t wanna have to make a resolution or anything about it!
I wish I had pictures. This was the Best Birthday on Record, sweetie!! Wow!!
So yeah, it all started with a $100 gift card from my mother. She srsly rawks. Srsly. THEN, my most amazing and much loved man surprised me! You see, I had twatted at some point that I wanted one of two things for my birthday; a cabana booth at Urban Mo’s with 15 people or nothing. Hahah! I was feeling bitchy and self important that day. Anyhoo. We worked all day Monday. I knew we were going to Mo’s (I kinda got my way), and had my outfit all planned out. I stuck to it even tho my new fake leather jacket was calling me… All primped and ready for whatever we get to Mo’s. And sit. We order appetizers, adult beverages, and read tweets and Brightkite and stuff. After a while Joelle">Joelle and Mikey show up. We gab and enjoy the eats. Joelle and Richard talk about how we scored Premium Seating without having a larger party. I was like… okay. Then our San Diego family Sheila and her daughter show up! Yay! More booze and stuff happened. (the order of events after this point may differ from reality, thank you, vodka) Then Gooster and Gio pop up out of nowhere!! My cabana was getting full! OMG. It was awesome! Also, our server was our good friend Marisol! Other Mo’s peeps were stopping by and giving well wished and stuff. Marisol had provided an inflatable monkey for every one to sign. Yay again! Captain, one of my good friends who actually has never, EVER attended my birthday’s prior arrived. Food, fun, laughter!! Then I saw my BFF Marcus walking over! He had said he might not make it, so I wasn’t expecting him. I was literally amazed at all these people to celebrate with me. I was. Then the super secret surprise guest, someone on Twitter I have been talking to lately who just seems so amazing… @Uberglitterati!!
There was the traditional singing, candle blowing, an odd looking cupcake that I refused to eat, and shots to decline… I stayed hydrated and enjoyed many Cosmos! I tried to talk to everyone but it was overwhelming! So many people!! I have never had a birthday like that. Ever. I had no idea how to behave!! After a bit folks started leaving. I hugged my goodbyes. I so adore everyone that was there. Making an effort to go out on a Monday in December? I love you all soooo much. Nights like that really give you a picture of who in your life is important, even if you don’t see each-other much. When it got down to just us gays we headed to Brass Rail for some twirling and stuff. Fun, fun, fun!
Oi. I wish I had pictures! I have the best man and best friends ever. Srsly. I could cry. You guys rock!!
Then today I found out Richard had invited the new neighbor friends too! I love him extra for that! He made a stellar effort this year… Kudos, you! *kiss*
What a night! Can I just tell you first, that alcohol is a very dangerous drug? Especially when combined with glitter, hair, and heels…
I was logged into Facebook the other day and saw that Vuboq was a-coming-to-town. Like Santa. Kinda. Only this was for work and not like gift giving and reindeer. Now we’ve only chatted a bit here and there on the Social Networks, mostly the Twitter. But hey, I read his blog pretty regularly, and I am like the San Diego welcome wagon, so I sent him a message inviting him to our holiday Shindig. Sadly, after much traveling that day he cancelled. But being the persistent one, I mentioned we should at least do drinks while he was in town.
Because, to be perfectly honest, most of my friends are FROM the internet. And also, I figured he’d cancel again. Just cause, you know, we hadn’t chatted that often before. But the next day we had a date, time, and place all figured out. Yay! Being that it was going to be a Wednesday I naturally chose Dreamgirls over at the Urban Mo’s. A guaranteed good time. As it turned out I was right!
So Vuboq (can I say his name? Not sure since he doesn’t use it..) is amazing. He’s fun, frisky, and adorable all at once. It was surprisingly easy to talk to him, and it was that weird “like we’ve known each other forever” vibe. I am so, so, soo glad we met!!! (In fact I wish he lived here… So we could hang out and laugh a lot and have Martini Time). Plus, he brought the fantastic Miss Michelle M. She’s not a tweet or a blog, so like… no link. But she is FUN! Also a local gal so we hope to see her again.
It turned out that the drag show was the most perfect venue.. We had the most amazing time talking, watching the scandalous performances of the Dreamgirl’s Beauties, and enjoying boozy beverages. Ice broken, we ended up on the heated patio and just talked, laughed, and harassed the “girl’s”. Well, not harassed so much as meet and greeted… and photographed! Yay! So here’s a few photos:
Dude. I have to say, I really think Cinco de Mayo is becoming one of my favorite holidays. First, there is booze. Gotta love a holiday that encourages that. (Wait, don’t ALL holidays include booze? Or is that just my family?) Secondly, the food. I love nothing more than Mexican food. Really, given the choice I always choose Mexican. Finally, my third reason. This is a new discovery for me. It is like *no problem* to get time off work! Amazing! I mean, I work retail. So it is literally ALWAYS a bad time to take time off. But the past 2 years I have scored for Cinco de Mayo. This year I was off May 4, 5, and 6. Awesomeness! And I think if I remember to request it, I could have the entire week next year! This is like a total hidden gem for me. You have no idea. I am going to discuss this with my man and get to planning next year. We could take a week, go on a cruise or something…. have a party… who knows!
Oh and speaking of Cinco de Mayo, mine was absolutely fab. The weather was amazing. We drove around all day (with the top down) hunting for a mystical item called a “Taco Proper”. We eventually found them after seeing more of Chula Vista than I ever had intended… Oy! Later, Joelle and Mike came over for some patio time. We had tacos, ceviche, salsa, and margaritas till the sun went down. Then we enjoyed Mexican pasteries. Perfect way to finish the day.
Oh, and I made the ceviche! Shocker I know… Did you know that the fish up in there isn’t cooked? Well it kinda is.. but not with heat. You soak it in lime juice overnight. That is what “cooks” it! What? Not surprised? I was amazed! It was sooo good too. Kudos me.
